  • missing player window in xdcam transfer

Posted by Ben Traylor on July 3, 2012 at 9:38 pm

I’ve searched but can’t find the solution.

my player window is missing. if i double click the clip, it doesn’t play and there’s no panel or window to play the clip.

I’ve also uninstalled and reinstalled. Anyone have any answers? Thanks in advance.

Trash the preference file for XDCAM Transfer. Once you’ve done that restart the program and it will default to the basic layout and you’ll get your window back.

The path to that preference file is: Macintosh HD>users>yourname>library>preferences>com.sony.XDCAMBrowser.plist

    thanks for replying don…….

now no windows open. I can open a couple of explorer windows but the player window still won’t open. any other ideas? do i need to delete other preferences, etc?

i also uninstalled and reinstalled again…..that didn’t help either.

    thanks,

Perhaps you’d better provide a few more details then, only because some versions of XDCAM Transfer won’t work or are very flakey with some newer versions of the Mac OS.

And we’re taking about the original XDCAM Transfer program, right? Not the XDCAM Browser or the original CLip Browser software.

Okay, when I get a chance I’ll play with XDCAM Browser and see if I can duplicate your problem but in the meantime look for the preference file for THIS program in the same folder as the XDCAM Transfer pref. file and delete it. Then restart the XDCAM Browser program.

well, i give up. i’ve googled and looked at other sites, i’ve cleared preference files and what not. it’s not the end of the world but i can’t believe it’s so difficult to figure out. when i double click a clip or right click the clip and select play, a window should pop up. it shouldn’t be this difficult. thanks for you help don. if i figure it out, i’ll come back here and list the steps.

Ben, did you remove the following file from your preferences folder:

    com.sony.XDCAMBrowser.plist

Initially you said you were using XDCAM Transfer and I asked you to delete the preference file for that program. You’ve since told me you’re actually using XDCAM Browser, so the pref. file listed above is for that program.

I’ve not been able to duplicate your missing windows issue but trashing a program’s pref. file almost always works.

Yes, I did that. The only thing I can think of is maybe the latest version of XDCAM Browser and the latest version of Lion aren’t communicating properly.

Have you tried creating a New User Admin account and opening XDCAM Browser there?
That would let you know whether it’s a user or system issue.
