I digitized 4 tapes of talking heads. Then on those 4 clips I put a marker for every new headshot and named it by the person on the screen. We’re really busy, so I showed my producer how to add markers and make comments. I expanded the 4 master clips and he clicked on the marker subclips that I had already divided up by person. He then went through and added more markers within those subclips. After all that work we discovered that the markers disappear once you close those markers. New markers were not made!

Did I explain that well enough? Has anyone else encountered this problem. Is there any way to turn “submarkers” on? Is that even a word?

    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

    Anyone noticed this problem before?

Let me explain what happened again.

We had four 30 min clips of talking heads. I first went through and made a marker at the start of each new speaker, about 5 per clip. Then, we expanded each master clip and double-clicked on the marker icon in the bin. This opened up just that section of the master clip. FCP allowed us to add markers to these subclips and my producer spent a long time going through each one, making numerous markers and notes. But when you leave that subclip and then come back, all of the submarkers are gone.

Should we have made each speaker into an actual master clip and then add markers?
I don’t understand why FCP would let you make this markers, if they aren’t going to save. Seems like a overlooked bug.

Please let me know if you’ve encountered this or have a workaround or a way to recover 3 hours worth of notes.

    Thanks
