  • missing media and audio problems when opening project

I’ve just encounted a problem when I open up any one of my projects. First I get a message that all of my media is offline, then once I select a single clip to load, the entire sequence appears. When I try to play the sequence, or any of the clips, there is no audio. This is the first time I have encounted this problem. I have restarted my computer, external hard drive, and Premiere Pro. Any suggestions why this might be happening?

This is probably what is happening… When using an external hardrive, you have to make sure that the same letter is assigned everytime you plug it it. (There are different ways to do that, and I would do a quick search in the archives for that one)

When you select the first clip, Premiere will look in that folder to see if any of the other clips are there as well, and add them automatically.

So, when you save a project, the letter corresponding to the drive where your project footage is saved, is indexed, so even if your project is in the same folder as the files, Premiere will always link the files to the drive letter, then to the folder.

That seemed to clear up the problem. Thanks!

That explains why whenever I take a USB drive home to work on something, the audio gets re-conformed, and and then again back at the office.
