missing markers
Posted by Wouter Slagter on February 15, 2013 at 6:58 amI don’t know why my markers don’t show up after I render a project.
I have it selected as automatically save markers with media in Preferences and I have it selected with a render template as well.
Am I missing here something?Thanks

February 16, 2013 at 12:32 pmWhere don’t they show up? What type of media did you render? Not all video formats have the capability of embedding markers.

February 17, 2013 at 5:48 pmI’m having the same trouble with Vegas Pro 12. Trying to use the file as input to Architect 6.0.
I “render as” Main Concept MPEG-2 -> DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen Videostream.
Saw a youtube video that showed a file created with “Movie Studio” using chapter markers came into Architect with the markers showing up.
I see there’s an option in Architect that allows you to “insert scene/chapter marker”, but I hate to have to redo it (have 30+ chapters).
Thanks

Did you turn on the option to Save project markers in rendered media file under Metadata Options?
If you did, then did you move the MPEG2 file after rendering it? If so, did you move the marker file because the chapter markers are not embedded in the MPEG2 file, they are placed in a separate file that must remain in the same folder as the MPEG2 file.

I missed that check box originally.
That did it!
Thanks again.

February 18, 2013 at 6:31 amHi John,
Sorry for not being more specific.
In Vegas Pro 12, I rendered as Sony AVC with “Save project markers in rendered media ” selected in Meta Data Options.
Then I imported the rendered file into DVD Architect and the markers did not show up in the timeline.
There is an icon on the timeline in Architect “Load Markers” but I thought that’s only used if you add markers directly on the timeline in Architect. -

Yea, if you’re using Vegas Pro 12.0 the new render dialog is very confusing. I guess someone thinks it’s an improvement, but I haven’t met anyone else who agrees. 🙁

Did you move the media file after you rendered it? The markers are saved in a separate file and if you move the media and you don’t move the marker file they will not show up.

No, that button is to load a markers file like the one that Vegas Pro creates.

September 9, 2015 at 11:21 pmJohn I know this is an old thread, however I have not moved the rendered file, yet the project markers have not transferred across for this project, whilst they normally do. This is my first project with Vegas pro 13, and DVDA 6.0. Previously I used VMSP10 and DVDA 5.0.
Check box for markers is selected. A separate file was not created, as there is only my rendered file in that location.

September 12, 2015 at 12:05 pmIf you checked the box to create markers during render, there should be a file with the same name as your MPG file with the extension .sfl. See if that file is there. If it is, you can manually load it into DVD Architect using the load chapters button. If not, are you sure you created the chapter markers correctly. There are several different types of markers in Vegas Pro. Only the regular Markers (not command markers, or close caption markers, etc.) will create chapters.

May 14, 2017 at 11:44 pmJoining in on this old thread, as I’ve switched to V14 and can’t seem to get the markers out. I don’t know if it’s still applicable but I can’t find the “option to Save project markers in rendered media file under Metadata Options” referred to in this thread.
Also, I DO have an SFL file but when I use the “load markers” button in architect nothing happens (of course I’d prefer that they be embedded).Using Movie Studio 14 Platinum (same problem with 13)
MPEG-2 – either DVD or Blu-ray.
Checkbox for “insert i-frames at markers” is checked (under “customize” under template).
I went back and rendered a test using Vegas 10 and Architect imports with markers just fine, so I’m sure the problem is the Vegas 14 rendering.
