  • missing files in FCP export

We have recently cut a short film on FCP HD that seems to have come out ok, however when we tried to export the project to DVD for a thord party to work on , they found that they were unable to reopen it in FCP as they got error messages such as

“file 237 (etc) is missing without which the movie cannot play”

We have also encountered this when trying to export the movie to the hard drive of my laptop. Again, when I try to open the project in FCP again, I get the same error messages telling me that “file numbers xxx etc are missing ..”

Can anyone help ? Thanks, Stuart

    hey Stuart

you didn’t mention how you exported, settings etc – those kind of details really help to narrow down the problem.
however, when you do the export, one thing you might want to make sure of is that you have checked “make self-contained” … else if the file is opened from a different machine which does not have the access to the origina media, you make get a “file missing” error

    hope that helps
