Activity Forums Boris FX Particle Illusion Missile trail

  • Posted by Rich Tuttle on October 4, 2012 at 1:14 pm

I am going ot make my first scene using PI! I have an animated F4 Phantom with a camera following it flying fast sort of front 3/4 low. I wnat the Sparrow missile to fall out of its belly station then fire off exit stage left as it goes for its target, For now the camera is static…

I need a white puffy smoke trial with some yellow white fire that will come from the back of the missile! I plan to have the ski as one layer the plane another layer then the Missile on top with an alpha so I wont have to worry about a MASK!

I cant seem to be about to figure out how to use any of the emitters as the SMOKE doesn’t stay in the same area! I need it to shot backwards very fast like a trail would do in this situation/

    Pleas advise

I’ve done this, I used the water spout thing. After all it is water vapour you’re wanting to see.

    Grazie

There are several smoke emitters that do this already.

    1) Make sure you’ve downloaded ALL of the emitter libraries

    2) Open particleView (a separate application installed with particleIllusion) and hit the “S” key to open the search window.

    3) Search for “smoke” or “jet” or “smoke trail” or something like that. If that doesn’t work, try “trail” or “meteor” or “missile”.

You should find so many smoke emitters you’ll have a hard time choosing.

    Alan.
