Okay so I finished editing the latest cut of a short film in FCP about a month ago. Film is approx. 26 minutes long, a fair amount of effects, etc.

Suddenly, now when I go back to open the project file, clips in the timeline are not the right ones. It is not even some earlier saved version of the project. For example, a random clip in the timeline will play as something else, even though when I bring that selected file up in the viewer, it plays as the correct source clip.

Also, some audio clips seem to be out of place. No one has touched my comp but me.

However, in an effort to make space available on my hard drive, I did get rid of some render files about a week ago. Most everything in the timeline is red (needs rendering) as I expected, but this mismatch of clips is beyond me.

Now that the film needs some minor touch ups, I really can’t afford to go back and re-edit the film to its original state.

Please help! I’d really appreciate it.

As long as you’ve not changed the clip names from the media file names, try reconnecting the online media to the original files again. Also trash ALL render files.. might even copy and paste the sequence’s clips to a new fresh sequence so there’s no connection to old renders.. Might try these things with a copy of the sequence if things don’t go right for some reason.
