I have an older Powerbook (G3 Pismo with a speed upgrade to make it a G4 “technically”) that I mainly use as a portable design/email station. I’m running OS 10.2 on it. I can load my P2 card into the PC slot, and it reads that there is something there (leaving me to believe that at least the PC slot works), but the P2 card doesn’t mount. There was a driver that I downloaded from the Panasonic website and installed on the computer, but still can’t get the P2 card to mount from the PC slot. I can, however, attach the HVX directly via Firewire and the P2 card will mount that way. I’m looking to use this machine simply as a portable management station to transfer files from my P2 card onto an external HD, without having to take my camera down. My question is, could this be a simple enough fix of just upgrading from 10.2 to 10.4 to solve the PC slot reading issue, or do I have to buy a G4 Titanium to get this to work?

Sometimes the obvious is hidden in plain view.

    I’d start there.

You might also look at this software at http://www.p2genie.com. You may download and try before you buy. Currently in use on G4 Laptop with OS X 10.4, but may be applicable in your case.
