    Howdy!

I’m working in a NTSC Widescreen format. Is there a text size I should stay above? I’m using a smaller font for some fine print and it’s coming out pretty fuzzy when testing on DVD.

    Thanks!

We can get by with 12-18 pixels but legibility often suffers.
Going to MPEG2 requires careful experimentation to determine the encoder settings required to maintain your text quality while allowing all other factors to compenstate. If you need minute text detail, your motion compensation will suffer.

There are lots of ways to improve text quality such as using drop shadows and transparency so the pixel rise time is more gradual at the edges of the glyphs.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
