miniDV to MPEG2 DVD transfer, deinterlaced or interlaced and which vegas options???
Hi, this week has been a learning curve in miniDV to DVD authoring and i have almost identified the best method for what i want. Just a few questions remaining.
1) I understand that even though i have a plasma progressive TV and a DVD player capable of progressive output it is still advisible to not deinterlace in vegas but to keep to interlaced. Similar thoughts at this site?
2) If i want to keep within the interlaced format should the deinterlaced option in the ‘file/properties’ box state ‘none’?
And then in DVD architect when going through the ‘Make DVD’ dialogues there is an option for ‘optimise’ in here on the video 1 tab should the progressive mode be altered to interlaced or auto? What does this option actually change?3) If progressive mode is preferred, then for progressive rendering to MPEG2 (DVD type) should the ‘file/properties’ deinterlace options be set to blend or interlaced and the video1 tab / progressive option in DVDA be set to progressive for correct conversion?
I have a read alot of articles this week and spent hours on forums to learn about progressive/interlaced/SD/HD/vegas/DVDA/vieography basics etc… and now i am close to transferring all my miniDV honeymoon tapes to DVD format. So anybodies help with this would be much appreciated. background info on the principles of deinterlacing pros/ & cons would also be appreciated as would direction to articles (I have printed off Edwards articles) and other sources.

I have found that when using DV going to DVD, using Vegas at it’s DEFAULT settings works quite well. Just capture using the defaults, edit using the defaults, render using a DVD Architect preset, and then master the DVD using the defaults and all should be fine.
