MiniDV to Beta SP workflow???
Can someone tell me what kind of settings I should have for BetaSP? I know that it’s 720×486 but what about the other settings in FCP?
I’ve already edited a project in a timeline sequence all set for MiniDV and now I need to export it out to BetaSP.
Should I export the clip to BetaSP settings or just make a new sequence set for BetaSP and then render the DV footage? -

I output to BSP every day from a DV timeline.
Since BetaSP is analog, you just connect the Beta Deck to an output card or DV unit connected to the Mac…
and record via the composite (good), S-Video (better) or Component (best) input to the Beta deck.
(Audio must be connected as well, of course.)

I thought that you you would have to change the pixel ratio from 720×480 to 720×486?

Those fewer six pixels would not stop any of my local stations from running a paid TV spot, no.

Nope. just get an AJA Io LA or a Kona product and play your DV timeline direct to Beta via Component or S-Video. It’s a realtime playback so you can just edit in DV as normal but lay-off to Beta for broadcast.

The only other think to watch is set up. If you’re dv is set to 0 ire black level you need to switch the “add set-up” switch on the beta deck “on” or you can change this in your aja control panel. A wf monitor on the end of the beta deck is always nice.
