Mini DV capture in FCP – Losing quality
Hi all-
I’m having a very strange problem while capturing Mini DV into FCP 6.0.5.
When I look at the video in the Log and Capture window, the quality is superb, but when I capture it, it becomes washed out and less crisp. I’m using the NTSC DV capture setting with the quality set at “Best.” I’ve also tried a number of other settings to see if I could get the quality up, but no dice.
I know that Mini-DV into Final Cut should be a lossless transfer, but I’m getting much lower quality when all is said and done.
Any suggestions?

How are you capturing-camera or deck, Firewire or capture device?

Should have included this in the original post. I’m using a DVCAM Deck with a FireWire 400 connection.

No way that any degradation is happening.
If you would monitor properly the video in tape and in FC you would find no difference.
