  • Mini 1/8″ (3.5mm) Locking for Sony vs Sennheiser

    Hello,
I am planning to buy a Countryman B3 Lav microphone to be used with Sennheiser Evolution wireless. As of right now B&H has only Sony version of B3. I was wondering what is the difference between Sony and Sennheiser Mini 1/8″ connector. Are they compatible? Thanks!

I believe that locking jacks 3.5mm are standard across brands, indeed ive bought locking jack from neither sony or senn and used them fine, but the mic or capsule will NOT necesssarily work. Thats down to voltages and power supplies needed / given by each unit.
But the Jacks should be fine.

The 3.5mm TRS locking connectors are universal and will fit all female 3.5mm jacks. What you have to be aware of is the wiring for each system. A lav wired for the Sony will not work in the Sennheiser and the opposite is true.
