Miller has died.
Most people who make their living trying to craft communications that cause others to do stuff – be it vote some way or buy a particular brand of soap – brush up against the field of psychology at some point.
One of the modern giants in the field, Richard Miller just died at age 92.
It’s a mark of how important he was that when I first heard his name in college, nobody ever used his first name. When someone said “Miller” you were simply presumed to to know who was being discussed like someone saying “Bach” in a discussion about music.
One of the handfull of professionals who fundamentally alter a whole field of study with their efforts.
His work will certainly live on.
