Activity Forums Creative Community Conversations Miller has died.

Most people who make their living trying to craft communications that cause others to do stuff – be it vote some way or buy a particular brand of soap – brush up against the field of psychology at some point.

One of the modern giants in the field, Richard Miller just died at age 92.

It’s a mark of how important he was that when I first heard his name in college, nobody ever used his first name. When someone said “Miller” you were simply presumed to to know who was being discussed like someone saying “Bach” in a discussion about music.

One of the handfull of professionals who fundamentally alter a whole field of study with their efforts.

His work will certainly live on.

Yes, I saw that too. I guess if Mel Gibson was still involved they’d have to rename it Drunk, Angry and Mad Max.

Dr George Miller is in fine health and shooting the fourth Mad Max in Namibia as we speak. He was going to shoot in the Australian deserts again but there has been too much rain and the desert is looking more like a set for My Favourite Pony with blooms of wild flowers carpeting the red sands.

    (Head hung in shame.)

Notice I posted that at 3:30 am.

It was my “decompression” writing after long editing chair deadline push.

And hey, at least I was clear enough of mind not to call him Arthur Miller…

Tho “Death of a Cognitive Salesman” would have been kinda interesting topic line.

    Mea Culpa

My first thoughts Bill when I saw the thread topic was the Miller Tripod company had gone belly up.
