  meteor impact

  So I have been scouring the internet looking for some sort of tutorial explaining how to composite a meteor impact similar to the Toyota truck commercial https://youtube.com/watch?v=-_OtbXmu9kg&feature=related

  or the meteor in the ABC show Lost https://youtube.com/watch?v=-YMNjGbM6uw

  if anyone has any tips it would be much appreciated. any particular settings perhaps? I know particular has an explosion preset. tips for animating the comet it’s self? realism?
