    Hi,
I never paid attention to MetaLan, and perhaps I am misinterpreting info that is being told to me right now on the AJA forum – but –

is it true that using Metalan, and conventional Gig E interconnect, I can have multiple MAC OS-X workstations feed off of a single MAC Pro server (with a large fast drive array), and get about 80mb/sec from each client to the server drive array ? All of this, using an off the shelf Gig E switch ? Is this accurate information, or am I making up a fantasy story here ?

    Hi Bernard –
I have re-read your post to me several threads below. For MetaLan, does the server need to be a true server (like Apple XServe running OS-X server), or can it just be dedicated workstation (like a MAC Pro) with the drive arrays attached to it, so it can feed the other workstations in the group ?

I will also contact you via phone, and see you at NAB.

    Hi Bob,

A regular Mac Pro will be just fine. There is no need for a Server workstation.

    All the best.

    Bernard
