I’ve been editing my short for a couple weeks now, and I have all the individual scenes in their own sequence. I then put all those sequences into a master sequence to create the full assembly for the film. The problem I’m having is that in certain spots (always the same), the video will all the sudden jump backwards a couple seconds in time while the audio continues playing as normal. Then, the video jumps forward to be in sync with the audio a few seconds later.

It’s super annoying, and I’m not sure what’s causing it. When I open up the individual sequences that are jumping in the master sequence, they play just fine. It’s just when I nest them that problems arise. Until a couple days ago, nothing like this had ever happened.

    Umm. Help? 🙁

Nesting in FCP isn’t perfect, so don’t do it. Just copy your individual scenes from the timeline and paste into your compilation sequence.

I also have a problem with nesting. When I nest something and lay something over top of a spot in the next that has a transition, I sometimes get a skipping problem in the nest.

Is there really no fix for this other than “don’t nest”? I believe I had a similar problem with Media Composer many moons ago.
