merging videos without recompression

The name of a good tool for merging mpeg files escapes me right now.
I’ll post it (or someone else will) when I think of it.

For DV AVI, Vegas is the best there is.

some time ago you were asking me about my surname. Yes, it’s a very common surname in Poland so it is very likely you met some number of people with it. It’s like Lee or Smith in Canada. 🙂

For Standard Definition MPEG2 video you can’t beat Womble. Either there simple MPEG VCR or their more elaborate MPEG Video Wizard will do. It literally cuts and splices with no recompression. It saved me a couple of times with long renders only to find a name on the credits misspelled. I just render that small part and stitched it together with womble and saved hours of rendering.
