I am syncing audio and video in FCP via timecode. It works great. I have tried using Sequenceliner and doing CMD-l to link the clips and just selecting the clips in the bins and merging. I get the same result both ways.

Once all the clips are merged, the audio is typically longer (head and tail) than the video. I select all the synced clips in a bin and send to compressor to make offline footage for the editor.

When I render from compressor if the video is longer than the audio I get the correct timecode.

If the audio is longer than the video, the timecode in the compressor render file is off by the amount of time the audio is longer than the video.

I am able to fix this by changing the timecode in the video to match the audio. Then the render clip is correct. But this makes all my timecode in FCP wrong for that clip. Changing the timecode seems like a bad idea.

What is the correct way to get FCP to render with the correct timecode?

    Thanks,
    Dusty

If I use Batch Export instead of Compressor I get the correct timecode. Plus it seems like Batch Export (self contained) is going much faster than Compressor.
