My second post today… this time for a completely new problem.

I’m working on a film with audio and video recorded separately. We have synced sound, and merged clips for the editor to work with. Pretty standard for films. Suddenly, just today, when the editor match frames a clip (actually this is happening with several clips) he is matching back to camera sound (which is not good). This has not happened to us until today, and we’ve been editing for several weeks. It seems as though the relationship between the video and sound is lost somehow in the match framing, over time….And on top of that, the sound doesn’t all match back to the other sound. So if we have 6 channels of audio, and I match frame from a2, it won’t give me the other channels, (and will sometimes actually match me to the camera sound!)

Is this a known problem? I’ve never run into this before (including within this sequence or bin). After doing a google search, I did come across this thread:

The relevant comment is from guyedit. He seems to have experienced the same issue, but there is no solution offered there.

If anyone has seen this, please let me know. And if you have solved it, even better!

    Thanks,
    George

I have a work around that may work, but it’s weird as is the issue.

Quit FCP and trash prefs and delete all caches. Waveform, thumbnail, Obj and Prof caches. First two are on scratch disk, other two are with the prefs in FCP user data. Make sure to also delete the com.apple.finalcutpro prefs that are not in the FCP user data folder.

Jeremy, thank you so much for your ideas.
Good idea for a workaround. Unfortunately it didn’t solve this problem.
Linked or unlinked, the merged clips do not match frame correctly, in an unpredictable, inconsistent way.

Hi George, did you ever find a solution? I am having the same issue and it’s really hindering our edit process.
