  • Merge to HDR suddenly creating very dark images

For a while today I was going through images I shot yesterday, doing Merge to HDR, selecting a set of 3, and letting Photoshop do it’s thing with wonderful results. I’ve gotten through 20+ such image sets. All of a sudden, Photoshop is now making HDR images that are extremely dark and extremely high contrast. Any idea what’s going on?

Start by checking to see if your settings match the defaults:
    exposure: 1/60
    f-stop: 4.0
    ISO: 100
    EV: 0

Then try sliding the set white point preview on the next screen.

You can also try to reset your preferences in Photoshop (immediately after booting Phothsop hold down Shift Command Option)
