    Hi

Having a really frustrating problem with trying to sync sound recorded from an external source in Premiere Pro CS 5.5. I have tried both Plural Eyes and Woowave, and neither work for me. So I have had to resort to synching the sound manually.

In Premiere Pro, I bring a video clip onto the timeline, and bring the corresponding audio clip there as well. I use numbered clip markers to mark the part on each clip where the slate closes. Easy enough, just time consuming. I then remove the reference audio from the camera, and merge the now-silent video clip with the audio tracks of the sound recorded externally. Theoretically, this should produce me a new clip with the video from one file and the sound from the other.

Unfortunately, like many things I have come across in Premiere, the bugs in the program do not allow anything to happen easily. Here’s a screengrab of my original clip, in the timeline, with the reference audio removed. There are three tracks of stereo audio and one track of video:

And here’s what happens when I merge the clips and bring them into a new clip onto the timeline:

As you can see, what was once three tracks of audio now has TEN tracks of audio, plus six more tracks of audio right next to it, and for good measure, two more next to that. An insane and frustrating issue. I feel like I’m being played a cruel joke at the hands of Adobe engineers, “oh, you want the program to work like it’s supposed to? Not on my watch, pal”.

Seriously, why is this happening, and is there anything I can do about it?

    Thanks

    Paul
