March 1, 2010 at 6:30 pmThat’s awesome, Zane. It might not be a choice for you. That’s OK, man. No reason to take this personal.
I do like the KiPro, but I use it. You might not have a use for it. That’s OK, too. I am not faulting you for that. I just don’t think you were providing the most accurate information is all. I have and use a KiPro so I can ‘see’ it’s capabilities and have put them to good use and I also know it’s limitations. Right now, it is a very flexible device (as long as you are posting in ProRes) and there’s not much that it can’t do.
You aren’t Fabrizio who is looking for the highest quality playback device and perhaps the KiPro isn’t the right thing for Fabrizio either. I don’t know his budget, but he definitely wants quality as he’s made that clear on multiple posts.
For $4000 the KiPro is a bargain and it can be used as more than a playback device. As a matter of fact is it billed as an acquisition tool, but it can do more than that.

I never said it was not, that is what it is advertised as.
I just find it so odd that you are pushing so hard for a divice that is overkill for what is being asked for. Overkill in price and in what it does compared to what is being asked for on this thread.
For the price of the KiPro Fabrizio could get a completely portable editing system in a 17″ MBP that he can take to show people his work. And that is ALL that is being asked for is a way to show people his work. And with a 17″ MBP if the client does not even have a screen or monitor no worries the 17″ MBP does.

March 1, 2010 at 7:00 pmZane, I think you need to reread this again:
[Fabrizio Rinaldi] “Instead of burning the videofiles on multiple dvds or blue-rays (after hours of video conversion) and carry then with me I’d like to buy a MediaCenter/External HardDrive that I can carry with me and just connect to the projectors or HD screen to show my stuff in FullHD to clients and other people.
I already know some good media player that read H.264, but I’d really love a media player that reads Apple ProRes, Uncompressed 10 bit etc. Maybe I’m just dreaming. “Jeremy

March 1, 2010 at 9:22 pmJerremy I have read it and I fully understand it. I’m done arguing with you.
Fabrizio had already indicated he is interested in a Mac Mini. So for his budget and needs it sounds like the Mac Mini is a better fit.
