    I have Media 100 Producer v13.0 running on MacOS X 10.5.6.
I have two new external 500 GB harddrives never used until last night; one Accom, the other is a Buffalo.

Outside of Producer both drives show in excess of 465 GB available.

But in trying to acquire with them in Producer the capture tools that both drive only have 1.97 GB (ten minutes of DV). The drives will only capture up to that amount.

Producer correctly reads the amount of space available on the internal drive (more than 200 GB).

What is wrong and what is the fix?

    Thanks.

Sounds to me that the drives need to be formatted for Mac OS.

More specifically, they need to be “Mac OS Extended” (Journaled is OK too but largely unnecessary). “Mac OS Extended” is Apple’s name for HFS+. The significant feature of this format is that it can support files over 2GBs.

Highlight the drives in question and choose “Get Info” from the File menu (Command+i is the keyboard shortcut). There you can see the format of the drive.

If it needs to be reformatted, move any essential files to another drive and use Disk Utility (YourMacHD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility) to reformat.
