For some reason, on my latest “project”, on the homepage instead of showing a thumbnail it has a red field with “Media Offline”. I can open the project and all of my files are there, no problems. Did I accidentally click a button that put the files offline? Not a problem, just wondering what caused it.

This happens to me as well. I think it is just an internal thumbnail issue.

As you have discovered, it doesn’t mean your media is offline.

Go into your preferences and check where your stills are being stored. Make sure you have access to them, and the drive is not read only.

Then go and rebuild all your thumbnails on your timeline.

Thanks, Glen. I don’t see where to rebuild my thumbnails, but I’ll keep looking.

I think it is in the edit page..right click on a thumbnail and there is an option to rebuild all thumbnails

If the cache directory is momentarily unavailable, it can cause problems like this. Generally, I see this more with Gallery than with the thumbnails, but I believe they’re all in the same place. Double-check the path names in the user prefs and relaunch and see if they come back. I have had to struggle with this sometimes when moving a project from my computer to a client’s system (or vice-versa), but it can be done.

You can also update the thumbnails in the project by right-clicking on any clip in the Color Page and choosing “Update All Thumbnails” (p. 679 in the manual).

Hey, I had the same problem again. Just an update for others with this problem, you can now right click on the missing thumbnail on the homepage and get the “Update thumbnails” option.
