    Hello

I’m editing with Vegas Pro 11 build 683. 64 bit.

    I have an i5 processor (M460@ 2.53GHz) with 8 GB RAM.
Windows 7. For storage I’m using a WD 1TB external drive (USB).

My problem is with files going offline. I’ve just opened a new project and imported the proxy files via XDCAM Explorer from my PDW-700 camera. I imported 582 files from 4 discs and used the “add to project media list” command. When I went back to the first disc in the XDCAM Explorer window a number of the discs no longer had thumbnails showing.

And in the Project Media window some clips had no thumbnail image. I can’t drag them to the timeline or play them in the trimmer.

How do I bring them back online? I’ve tried clicking the “refresh” command but no luck. I’ve tried using the “recapture all offline media” but no joy. I’ve even deleted the files and recaptured them via XDCAM Explorer.

Why have the files gone offline and how can I get back to editing?
I’ve got a lot of work to get through (don’t we all?) and I’m just sitting here looking at my screen.

I look forward to your insights.

    thanks

    Pete

PS I’m a long time Vegas user (since Vegas 4) and have used this computer/camera setup only a few weeks ago and not had any trouble.

Sounds odd. Do you have the preferences set to “Close media files when not the active application”? (The default is “unchecked”.)
