  • Media manager gives different names to new media.

Posted by Antoine Dufour on September 16, 2010 at 9:30 pm

I am using the media manager to recompress my media (as seen in the second part of the tutorial “FCP: Tapeless Offline / Online Workflow”) and using the same settings as the tuto.
The problem is my new media doesn’t have the same name (“plan 01 -v” instead of: “plan 01”.
    Final cut adds “-v”
    Anybody knows why?
    Thanks

The drive you are you managing to, how is it formatted?

All my drives (internal and external) are formatted in:
Mac OS extended (journaled) (Journaled HFS + )
I tried managing on different drives and get the same problem.

Does anyone know why this happens? I am also running into this problem. Just finishing up an hour doc, and tried to use MM to create a copy of the final sequence. The idea was that I could put it on a smaller drive, which could be used to do small edits while on the road.

It seems that MM added numbers or “v” to the end of the clip titles, and that’s creating all kinds of reconnection problems.
