  • Media Manager cuts slack on one timeline, doesn’t on another

    Hi!

So, I’ve got two timelines of selects. I would love to cut the bits I don’t need and save them to a portable drive.

So, I run media Manager on Sequence A and select “delete unused media…”. It works as it should.

On Sequence B with same settings, it doesn’t work. it doesn’t seem to delete unused media. I’ve tried to make clips independent in sequence B, tried dragging clips to new bin and trying MM from there, to no avail. No matter what I do, MM just doesnt delete unused media. It even doesn’t matter if I turn the timeline clips into master clips.

What am I doing wrong? Looks more like a bug to me. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Ah, I’ve got it!

Clips need to have reel name in order fot MM to work properly. It’s just weird that when changing reel name, FCP warns me about changing TC (?!).

FCP gives you that warning because you are changing the metadata on the QT file itself so the change impacts every project using that file and not just the current project you are working with.

Yeah, I figured that, but it’s weird and kind of misleading because the warning talks only about altering TC, which is NOT being changed. Tx anyway
