Can you use Media Manager on projects were the media has been removed already?

I did a project 6 months ago and now I need to make a minor change to it for re-airing, but I only want to capture the footage that was actually used (with some handles).

    Thanks

Yes, you can media manage a sequence without the media online. For shows that we send to online where the media is going to be redigitized we actually media managed it with the media offline. Here is the settings we use.

In media manager have it Create Offline clips then click Deleted unused media from duplicated sequence and click Use Handles (then select how long you want the handles to be). We usually uncheck everything else except Duplicated selected sequence and place in a new project.

This will created a new project with your sequence in it and a batch capture of this will bring in just the media in the sequence plus handles.

    What version of FCP?

This ‘feature’ was busted in a few versions of FCP.

    Jeremy,

“Busted” only with regards to Multi-cam clips. Works as expected for everything else.

No, not really. I can’t remember the exact version numbers, but 4.5 this was busted and I think it was 5.1.2 but I am not sure. It was before multicam and after multicam.

    climbon321 Thanks for the suggestion.

    I will try it.
As far as the version I am using 6.0.2.

We’ll see if it works, it can’t hurt to try can it.

    Thanks again.
