Media Managed timeline capturing multiples of a single clip?
I’m in the process of onlining a feature I just finished, I’m using a media managed timeline of a pro res sequence. I’ve removed all of the excess, left 8 frame handles and am re digitizing at 10 bit with a kona 3 and an SR deck.
The weirdest and most irritating thing is happening. FCP is capturing the same clip 2 or 3 times, naming it something different and only connecting one of them, but rarely is it the right name. I can’t believe what I’m seeing, the clips are numbered differently, for instance it says it needs to capture 60 clips for a 30 clip sequence. It’s capturing the correct clips but leaving tons of multiples in the capture scratch folder. Not to mention anything that was multi-clip it would not delete the excess and wants to capture the whole clip over and over. Just another reason why they should have to remove the “pro” from the name.
Any thoughts or wisdom?

Great way to ask for help…
No, it typically might mean USER error. Someone coming from another application brings baggage from that app and tries to do the same things with FCP. Or just some small thing overlooked.
Does all the footage have REEL numbers? Was any of the footage MULTICLIPPED, and you forgot to collapse them? Any of the footage have names like UNTITLED, UNTITLED-1?
Could be any number of things. But I can say that I have offlined and onlined with FCP often, used MM to MAKE OFFLINE with handles and recaptured without any issues, so it isn’t the application. Something isn’t being done right. Tracking that down is the trick.
But only if you refrain from bashing the application.

Hey, I admire your adamant defence of the program. I’ve been using it since v.1 so it’s not necessary. I dis in a loving way. I am just so baffled by the problem. I’ve collapsed all of the multis. I’ve cleaned up the timeline, it’s just one video track. And it’s always capturing the clip twice. So weird.
