sorry for re-posting but it wasn’t resolved, so just hoping someone can help with this as I can’t work out what’s going on and it’s driving me mad. Here’s the link to that post if clarification is needed https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/1072032.

All incoming media for all projects is stored on my 2nd drive inside a folder called FS imports.

My scratch disk is set to my 2nd drive inside a folder called FCP Documents.

My project files are on my boot drive inside my Final Cut projects folder.

When I open a new project, I open then ‘save as’ in my Final Cut projects folder on my boot drive.

I have checked and triple checked that my scratch is set as above.

Yet when I start a new project and check where my media files are by revealing in finder; all I get is the path to where my original media is stored and there are no new project folders being created in my capture scratch folder inside FCP Documents, yet there are old project folders.

However render files etc. ARE being created inside the relevant folders.

Obviously something has happened for project folders to stop being created inside my capture folder; as I remember it, these folders should be created automatically right?

Can someone please explain to me what’s wrong/what I’m doing wrong please.

    many thanks

Often capture folders are not created unless you start capturing footage. If you aren’t capturing footage, then there is no project folder inside the CAPTURE SCRATCH folder. Not until you start capturing footage. If you are capturing footage, where is it being captured to?

ah I see! So only if I capture footage from tape will it appear in the capture scratch, not if I import HD files? I think what was confusing me is that I imported some HD files into a folder (that I probably created) in my capture scratch.

But the other folders were created automatically I guess when I ingested some tape media.

    Many thanks.
