I had this issue reported from a system at an associate’s place. It’s too far for me to go over.

    The system is
MacPro 8-core, Blackmagic HD Extreme, MacOSX 10.6.7, Decklink 9.1, FCP 7.0.3 all updates current. Media Express 2.3.

They capture using Media Express from a BetaSP tape as DPX 10-bit but to a single SATA internal drive not the boot drive. In the past they say this worked fine. It broke after they swapped out the boot drive and did a reinstall.

Now, the captured DPX files look OK in Media Express. But when taken to Apple Color or Revival, they see only garbage.

Anyone seen this before? Could it be drive throughput?

The person working at this place reported they found a solution to Media Express 2.3 DPX capture corruption. On the exact same setup, they downgraded to Media Express 2.0.1. And DPX file capture is fine. DPX files read fine in Revival and Color.

So, for them, or in general Media Express 2.3 has an issue with DPX file capture in SD PAL. Which gets solved by downgrading to Media Express 2.0.1.

Along the way, they did try out various Blackmagic Driver versions 8.0.1 through 9.1 Desktop.
