Media Drive Maintenance… suggestions?
We currently have some downtime for our 3 FCP Hd systems and I was wondering if anyone recommends any type of drive maintenance or “cleaning”. Our 3 mac pro systems have a 2TB internal raid, each. They get heavy daily use except for December. I guess I just remember those days of “disk DeFrag” for our old PC Avids.
Any thoughts?suggestions?
Our IT dept is wary of downloading any freeware/shareware… they are sadly PC guys that have been stung by too many viruses. So any recommendation not involving 3rd party software would be helpful as well.Thanks.

The very best thing you can do, if you have room, is to copy the files from your raid to another set of drives, erase the raid and then move the files back. Also, running Disk Warrior can’t can be beneficial too, unless you’re running a proprietary Raid-5 setup, as some manufacturers discourage the reorganized file structure that DW imparts.
