    Hi!

I need to take digitized footage from an avid and send it through a high speed connection to another editor across the country. I am unsure if I doing this right. After I digitize the footage, I have been selecting the clip and right clicking and hitting reveal file. It takes me to my unity drive that I digitized to and shows me clips (?) with a BUNCH of different numbers and letters. My question is – is there another way to view this without all the numbers? How do I know this is the right clip? Am I even doing this right? What would some tips be for a way to do this the correct way, is there some sort of workflow that I don’t know about?

Assuming you and the recipient actually have the bandwidth to send/receive the files, I would assemble the clips you want to send and use the consolidate feature to gather them into a folder (other than your media drive folder). Send the Avid project file along with the folder of consolidated clips. The editor on the other end will copy the consolidated clips to his/her media drive. Then, import the appropriate bins from the project file that you send.

I wouldn’t worry about the Avid’s lengthy alphanumeric names for clips. It’s how it keeps track of things and normally does a good job of it.
