exlemplifying my technical ignorance, the pc is the xw8200 but I don’t know what grafix card came with it. I have an FX1 camera.

Shouldn’t be a problem there.

The 8200 used to ship with a FX1300, 1400 cards – mid range’ish by present standards.

Have you tried playing back full screen on your workstation with the Adrenaline box disconnected.

It’s possible the NVidia driver could also be causing issues here. Check with Avid Online Support on avid.com for the latest current supported version.

There was a BIOS setting change for the 8200 that you could check, which would be worth a try: 8200 BIOS Config.

That said, your Adrenaline can edit HD, I’ve seen plenty of them doing just that, but that was probably an announcement from Avid before HDV came along. And HDV is massively processor intensive – one of the justifications for the development of edit friendly ‘codecs’ such as DNxHD.

HDV as I’m sure you’re aware uses a data rate very close to that of DV25 but the MPEG encoding is very edit unfriendly. Really it’s an aquisition format.

I have the same issue as Grinner. The monitor will not play
any sequences in HDV. The reason I opted to buy the MC software alone (no bo box) was because I was told by avid I’d be ingesting my HDV material directly into my Mac by firewire, bypassing any bo. On the output side, I understood that the only way to view the native HDV was to do the same and output to an HDV deck, then cable out to a monitor. I’m still not completely sure that the Mojo allows you to view it (and i’m particularly skeptical if grinner’s adrenaline bo isn’t allowing him to see it). DNxHD is an entirely different story- this will play through the DNA bo hardware, as far as I understand. It’s the HDV that won’t work. I gotta get to an avid person to find out what I can do here. It’s too late in the game to transcode everything to DNxHD (way too much footage).

Grinner, did you ever resolve this monitor out issue without having to switch to half-quality? We have same issue with DVCProHD, bought a dang 42″ Panasonic plasma to view it on, and no dice. We have the DNxcel board as well.

I’m taking a few moments today to look through old posts to see if I can figure some things out.
