Media Composer 7 on 13-inch Macbook Pro with Retina display?
Hi,
I’m after a new Macbook Pro which I can travel easily with. It will be primarily used for office work (scriptwriting etc…) but I would also like to be able to run Media Composer 7 for when I’m on location and need to do some small editing (music videos, corporate etc…) and After Effects work.
I’ve been looking at the following upgraded rig –
13-inch: 2.6GHz
with Retina display
Specifications
2.8GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
Intel Iris Graphics
Built-in battery (9 hours)Would this set-up be sufficient? I’ve checked the Mac MC 7 Qualified Systems PDF but though I would double check on here as I wasn’t 100% clear. The two things I’m uncertain about are the fact it is only Dual-core and has Intel Iris Graphics – that latter of which in particular I cannot seem to find out if it is compatible with Avid MC7.
The obvious answer would be to get the 15 inch with Quad-core and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M, but the 15 inch is a little too big for what I’m after in the field (and would be using an external monitor at home anyway).
Does anyone have any advice or experience in running Avid Media Composer on such a system?
