I was wondering what people are using as a workflow in handling Media Cache files in Premiere CS 5.5.

I have set my Media Cache preferences to an external drive, but I am an unclear about how to manage cache files that I no longer need. It is impossible to tell which files are for which project since there is no file structure in the Media Cache Files folder. I suppose I could delete the entire Media Cache Files folder and then re-open and re-render the project I am working on, but that seems like an awkward work around.

I am also finding that despite my settings in the preferences, I am still getting a buildup of data on my local drive. I have had to delete 18 GB of media cache from the User/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Common folder. Why is this still happening?

    Thanks guys.

I’m with you, John. Really annoying. I end up deleting those folder contents after every job pretty much. I placed a shortcut on my desktop so I can navigate there immediately.
