I have been using Media 100 Suite 2.0.1 on a mac for about 18 months. I have created new HD programs, as well as revising old SD programs, originally created on Media 100 i.

Up until a few weeks ago, everything worked fine. Then one day, I needed to modify an SD project, that I had last update a few months ago. The project was originally created in Media 100 i, but had been opened in Media 100 Suite 2.0.1, and saved.

Every SD clip and/or program says “Could not play because of a bad video frame”. It is as if, the Media 100 NTSC-720 codec is missing. Any ideas on how to fix this? I uninstalled Media 100 and reinstalled, but the problem remains. Is this a Quicktime issue? I am not sure where to look for missing or broken files.

Sounds like you have upgraded to MacOSX 10.6.8 in the meantime. Unfortunately this update broke the MJPEG-B QuickTime Codec. which is the base for the Media 100 i codec. This was fixed in 10.7.2 (I believe), but not in the 10.6.x line anymore.

So you either need to downgrade to 10-.6.7 again (reinstall of some sort, Time Machine backup maybe?), or you need to move to 10.7.2 and up, which probably means updating to Media 100 Suite 2.1 as well.

    Great News,

You are right… somewhere in the last few months, I upgraded to 10.6.8 without really thinking about it. In looking deeper into it, Apple released a software update called 10.6.8 v1.1, which has an unspecified set of fixes for “professional tools” such as FInal Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, etc. Upon installing this update, all is now well. Good thing that Apple broke it’s own software in addition to Media 100 or I don’t think I would have had a solution. Thanks for the insight!
