Media 100 and NAB
Posted by Marcus Warren on March 27, 2013 at 2:46 amWe are just a few days away from NAB. If BorisFX has any forward-looking news about Media 100, perhaps NAB will be the place. Maybe the news will be that Boris is selling/has sold M100 to another company. Or maybe all that we will get is more deafening silence…
If any of you make the show, please find some BorisFx folks and ask, “Is our investment in Media 100 safe?”

March 27, 2013 at 11:07 amWarren, please stop this ‘bitching’ about Media 100. I have actually had ocasion to be in contact with Boris within the last few months and as far as I can tell there is no reason for your pessimistic outlook. They are keeping abreast of current needs and fully intend to maintain what many of us consider to be the best and most user friendly editing tool available today.

March 28, 2013 at 6:37 amGlad to hear that, Michael. If they keep up with Apple system updates and current AJA hardware and drivers, I will be happy for the most part. I use it to finish with, and am quite happy with the results. Must admit I am using several other systems for their flexibility. But in the end, stability and ease of use are very important to me, and Media 100 does that. Wouldn’t hurt to hear a word of encouragement here, though.

March 28, 2013 at 3:52 pmInteresting. What I was told by a M100 rep is the opposite of what you report… although we may have different ideas on what “maintain” means. I want more than just new AJA drivers.
I say keep bitching Warren, don’t let M100 die off quietly.

March 28, 2013 at 9:25 pmI have nothing to “report”. Just my minimum wishes. Of course I would love to see Boris pour an unlimited amount of effort into to the M100 software. I have always had positive responses from everyone I have spoken to there that improvement is ongoing. Would love new features and bug fixes. Not much has appeared recently, though. Just want M100 to maintain it’s relevance to current Mac system software and hardware, including third party (especially AJA) as it is released at the very least. It would seem that a lot more effort is going into their effects plug-ins. Please just don’t forget about M100. Would like to hear something positive. Maybe NAB.
