MC and Quicktime handling isn’t nearly as good as MXF. Avid isn’t designed to work with QT files…it’s getting better, and on a Mac it’s pretty straight forward. But really, I’d convert the files to MXF. Avid MC 6.5 and up now has ProRes MXF capabilities. And since MXF and QT are jsut wrappers, if you “consolidate” to ProRes MXF, it’s basically just copying the media to the Avid File Structure…a process that would take as long as doing it on the finder level. And Avid MC would behave better if you do that.
But on short form projects, ProRes QT should be fine. ON a Mac.
