I’m running MC5 on my MacBook Pro, and have a project and footage on an external NTFS drive. I can do everything BUT consolidate.
I have a couple P2 cards of footage that needs to be consolidated, but Avid won’t let me do it.
I’ve searched and read around and the closest to an “answer” I’ve found is “you can’t do it without third party software”.
I currently use ParagonNTFS to read/write NTFS on my mac, and have never had a problem until now.

Obviously the current workaround is open the project on a PC, consolidate there, go back to my Mac for everything else. It’s not a terrible workflow, but definitely wastes time.

I’m going to be using my MBP a lot more at work (100% PC/Avid/Adobe/Editshare environment) so being able to consolidate to an external would be amazing.

    Thanks for ANY help.

How’s paragon’s overall performance? I’ve tried macfuse – and it’s a bit slow…or you go for the NTFS beta and it’s dicey.

I’ve had no problems with it, and haven’t noticed any slowness about it.

I have a Lacie Rugged 7200rpm 500GB drive that I use via FW800 almost daily doing stuff mostly in AE, but also in Premiere, and occasionally Avid and FCP, and have had no problems at all.

    I’d definitely check it out.
