  • MC5 – 3D monitoring on a LCD Shutter TV?

    Hi guys,

    my question is the following:
i just visited a little Editing Outfit, which recently bought three 3D Monitors and is now using them to monitor with MC5.
The TVs are called “JVC GD-463D10E LCD” and use polarized light with polarized glasses to seperate the two “eyes”.
With this technique, you loose half of your resolution, and it shows.
When i asked why they didn’t consider buying TVs which use LCD Shutter glasses to seperate the Image, they told me they weren’t sure if Avid can output a signal for such a monitor.
Is that true, or is there a way to use an ‘LCD Shutter Monitor’ to Monitor with MC5?

Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany,
    Jan

I have used consumer style rear screen projection monitors with shutter synced glasses. You can do so my using one of the DVI connections on the graphics card in “full screen mode” and set the full screen setting to “checkerboard” and it will work. While this works some users do not want to give up a screen and full screen play is not as smooth as hardware based output.
