MC 6.5.2 + Macbook Pro = Spinning Beach Ball
I’m having serious problems with MC 6.5.2 on my Macbook Pro. I am constantly getting the beach ball whenever I try to do anything in the timeline – just moving clips, hitting play, etc. Usually if I wait a minute, the ball will go away and I can try to continue. But it happens so often that it’s difficult to work.
Occassionally, I get an audio sample error message:
ADMConsumer::PreLoad()
Error [0] unable to:
preload audio samples: numSamplesToPreloadMy system is a 2011 Macbook Pro 15″, 2Ghz i7, 4GB RAM, OS 10.7.5
My files are DNxHD36, 1920×1080, 23.98fps, no AMA at all.
I’m working off an external 2TB GDrive connected via FW800.
I’ve been an Avid editor for years, but this is my first time owning and using the current software version.
I’ve already done some basic troubleshooting in my System Preferences, such as adjusting the Energy Saver settings, and disabling FireWire networking.
And this same laptop, in the same configuration, using similar ProRes files, has had zero problems when editing with FCP 7 or PPRO. The only thing new is the MC install and DNX files.
