Maybe a graphics issue
Hello to you all
I’m quite new to Final cut pro and i already encounter some issues.
I think though that the problems i have are related to hardware.
I’m using a Macbook pro 2.66ghz (mid-2009) with the 2 nvidia graphic cards (9400M & 9600M GT) lately i got the final cut suite 3 and i started to edit a short film i had shot.
I switched to the 9600M GT for better rendering. But it appears that my mac crashes for some seconds (around 30-40) when i try to edit my sequence.
The mouse is moving, but i cannot click on anything as is my screen becomes a background.
I noticed that this was also happening during capture.
When i tried to capture a HDV tape it had like 3-4 mistakes(scene cut to 2 or 3 parts and some seconds were missing). At the beginning i thought it was just because my laptop was overloaded, so i emptied half of my HDD didnt run any applications on the background and of course shut down and restart my laptop.
The problem didnt go away it keeps on crashing and i have to wait every time for 30-40 seconds until i can go on again.
I have to add that when i watch a movie with the vlc player, i also get some moments that it freezes for a second and then it goes on leaving behind this “time-loss” pixels. The movie then goes on but it usually happens 4-5 times with a 2hr movie.
My thoughts went to the graphics card as all these do not happen with the 9400M but only when i switch to the 9600M GT.
Though when using FCP with the 9400M its substantially slower (rendering, effects, etc)Anyone had any similar problems or has any idea what could be causing the issue?
>P.S i run SL 10.6.4
