    I don’t think there is a set answer for your question. The time will increase the lower you make the bitrate (lower quality). The time will decrease the higher the bitrate (better quality).

    It really depends on how high of a quality you want your finished product to be. If it is a 6 hour video, the quality is going to have to be pretty low. if it is a 30 minute long video, you can max out the bitrate, but just be sure that your player of choice can actually play at that bitrate.

    Thank You for answering so soon – my footage consists of HD FX 24 Mbps (Sony HDR-CX115), and I am willing to limit it to one hour (want to make an one hour-DV-tape too) – do You think 25 GB BD is enough, or do I have to use a Double Layer 25 BG (even 50 GB)? BD burning does not seem to be very easy to learn after beeing accustomed to DVD…
