Well I’ve actually had over 200 menus in one project. I was thinking the only limiting factor was the space on the DVD. I just need to know for sure, because I am about to engage in a project that is going to require 500 menus. I do not want to take the job if Encore is going to shutdown on me after I get to a certain point. Does anybody know the answer?

There is a 1 GB limitation enforced by the DVD-Video spec…which would be thousands of menus. However, you are limited by RAM requirements.

A practical number would be somewhere around 200-300.

Thanks for the information. Where can I read all of the official DVD specs for authoring such as max number of menus? Is there a website?

    [bobbym06] “Is there a website?”

There is but the last time I checked they wanted $5,000 for it. Still interested?

This is a site with the Unofficial Specs. It will make the most sense to people with some knowledge of Sonic Scenarist. But, even so, it is informative. You may be able to browse this site and find the answers you seek.

    Hope this helps.

Same question as Bobbym06: Just for Encore 2.0. What is the max number of menus for 2.0? (P.S. I don’t want to buy the $24 video just to get an answer to the question)

    It’s a 2-part limitation.

The DVD specification, which is application-independent, allows for 1 GB of menu space on a disc. There are ways to exceed that, but you have to fudge the spec to do it, which can result in unplayable burned discs or discs that can’t be replicated from a master.

The available RAM on your system is the other part of the limitation.

    Hello bobby

Did you ever get a definitive answer to the maximum number of menus that Encore DVD 1.5 can contain?

I have the same problem where hundreds of menus are required.

Is there a formula for calculating the maximum?

    Regards,

    Stef
