matte question
Hello All,
another question … this time in regards to keying and mattes. i have a shot

where the monitor had a green sheet of paper which i used keylight to key out.
the key looked clean when i looked at the screen matte. here is a shot of that.

i junk matted out that portion of the screen

but when looking at the final result, part of the actors shirt is darker where the matte was. i have an arrow pointing to it.

does anyone have any idea why the shirt that was over the matte is so much darker? any advice would be appreciated.

Keylight may be trying to despill the shirt. Have you tried selecting a new Despill Bias or playing with the color correction properties?
Of course, I could also be entirely wrong 🙂

thanks Dave and Darby. Dave, I tried using the alpha matte but instead, it seemed the trouble area lost part of it’s opacity. as you noted Darby, i then adjusted the keylight replace colour after glancing the status view in keylight (there were shades of green) that seemed to do it. thanks.
