I mentioned this in an earlier post in the thread about running Media 100 on an iMac. But I think it bears mentioning in a post with an appropriate subject line.

Matrox announced at NAB today that all MX02 products will soon have Thunderbolt I/O capabilities. Shipments are to begin in July.

This will be very good for Media 100. It will be possible to put together a low cost Media 100, using just an $1,199 Macbook Pro, an MX02, and a copy of Media 100 software. Up until this Thunderbolt thing came along, in order to have any I/O, one had to opt for a relatively expensive Mac, like one of the Mac Pros or at least the most expensive Macbook Pro (as Floh pointed out, the 17-inch Macbook Pro is the only one with the previously necessary ExpressCard/34 slot). This development will make a whole new group of people interested in Media 100.
