  • Material Won’t Apply To Face Of 3D Text

Posted by Chris Mccool on May 26, 2011 at 10:33 am

Hi, I am new to this and Im sure there is a simple solution, but I have been searching the net and found no help.

I created a word and then added an extrude nurbs and light to it. I wanted to add a design to wrap around the image (see attached picture), so I created a material and added the image in the texture menu. However, the texture applies to the extruded Nurbs part of the 3D word, but the actual face/cap of the word (it just turns a general colour).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Chris

It sounds like you have projection set to UVW mapping. On your material tag in the object manager click on the icon once (not twice or you simply get the material editor) In the attributes manager under “projection” try the cubic setting. I don’t know what your trying to accomplish so try some different settings…and you might play with the offset and/or tiles at the bottom.

    Hope this helped.

Perfect! That was the problem. Thank you very much. Do you know if there is a way to apply one material to the nurbs and a separate one to the face/cap?

Dont worry I have worked it out. For anybody else wondering. Select the object on the right and hit C. It separates it, then you can add materials to the different sections.
