    I’m sorry to hear that you are having problems again. It’s hard for anyone to really know what might be going on. As you said in an earlier post, it may be time to reload the OS fresh and then be very careful of what software you install. I keep my Vegas Pro partition very lean.

    Thank you John,

    This is getting weird by the minute.
    Under preferences, in the preview video window, they have a place where you choose the video card, by choosing one option the video is in sync, it works for a while then goes off again. They also have a place where you can choose sync by frames, I played with the bar to increase or decrease the frame sync, it works for a while then I need to do the same routine to make it work again. After struggling to make half hr. video I rendered it, this time it rendered.
    Made a DVD, it is in sync! I need to get 3 DVDs out by next week, I guess that is the working mode for now.
    If I am lucky enough to finish these videos, next week I will consider re-installing everything again including window 7 I already purchased the disk.

    One more question: When I make the DVD with DVD architect a window opens telling me that the media is not large enough for the project, even if the project is less then a GIG and the DVD is at lest four times the size, it has been doing this since I got Vegas 12 and DVD Architect 6. I click on “do it anyway” and it works fine. Does anybody else has this problem?

    Thank you.
    Luigi

    There have been lots of problems with DVD Architect not getting the disc size correct and then it fits anyway. DVD Architect 6.0 is worse than 5.2 was I think. But it’s normal, if unfortunate.

    Hello John,

    I upgraded the memory in the computer, I re-installed windows 7, I pulled out my “special video card”, I had to download a trial version of Vegas 12, because I don’t have the disk, I purchased it as a download. Next time I’ll buy the disk! It seems working right.

    I tried to get support from Sony but they are still closed for “training”, they are only open to sell products. I wonder what is going on with Sony.
    Do you know how I can get my program back?

    Thank you

    [Luigi Perrotta] ” I had to download a trial version of Vegas 12, because I don’t have the disk, I purchased it as a download. Next time I’ll buy the disk!”

    No need to buy the disc because wht=atever is on the disc will probably be old and you’ll need to download the latest version anyway. The trial is the real version just without a license key. Once you enter your license key it becomes the full version.

    [Luigi Perrotta] ” It seems working right. “

    So are you saying that it’s all working again now that you reloaded your OS?

    [Luigi Perrotta] “Do you know how I can get my program back?”

    I’m not sure what you’re asking. Do you not have your license key? It should be listed under your account on the Sony web site. Every product you register should be listed with it’s key.

    Thank you John,

    How much memory one needs to run multiple tracks on Vegas and use many audio and video effects?
    Does a better video card make a difference?

    I removed the video card that I installed, I removed the UAD audio effect card and used Vegas using only with whatever the computer came with.
    Everything works fine, but I am only running one video and audio track.

    I had to install the OS two times. I noticed that when I clicked on “My Computer” the system read: 32 GB memory installed (16 usable) When I called Cyberpower, the computer’s manufacturer, I was directed to install window 7 again. I did it, the result were the same.
    Another “support tech” told me to do it again. After installing it again and having the same results, another “support tech” told me that this is normal because even if it is not usable the computer will use it if needed. Of course I didn’t believe that, I asked him to put it in writing and send me an e-mail, he refused. I contacted Crucial support, the memory manufacturer, the first question the tech asked was what OS you are using? When I told him Windows 7 Home Premium, he told me that Window 7 home Premium only supports up to 16 GB of memory.
    My computer came with 16 GB, the motherboard support supports 32 GB but the Windows Home Premium only supports 16 GB.
    This is crazy, the computer’s manufacturer tech support People didn’t know and the sales person at Crucial that sold me the memory didn’t know that Window 7 Home Premium only supports 16 GB. .
    Now I am left with a dilemma: spend more money and upgrade to Windows 7 Professional to increase the memory to 32 GB, this would mean to re-install the OS, Vegas and Sonar, or return the memory, run on 16 GB and re install my video card and effect cards one at the time to see which is the one that is causing all the problems.
    What is your opinion?
    Thank you

    16GB is plenty of memory for video editing. My old Hex Core had 16GB of memory with Windows 7 Home Edition and there wasn’t anything I couldn’t edit with it. Some projects had 20 – 30 tracks of video and audio and I had no problems. Windows 7 Pro will probably cost more than the memory did so I would just return the memory instead of spending more money for something you don’t need.

    It’s sad that Microsoft plays these games with their OS. There is no reason for Windows 7 Home to not use more memory. Microsoft just imposed an artificial limit to make you spend more money. This is another reason I moved to Mac. Apple doesn’t play these silly games and, in fact, OS X is free and supports all the memory you can fit in your Mac.

    Thank you John,
    Many times I thought to move over to MAC, but I didn’t think it could run Sony Vegas and Cakewalk Sonar. I didn’t want to learn another program, I only edit about a dozen programs a year.

    Hello John,
    Some good news and some bad!
    After re-installing window 7 a few times and re-installing Vegas, I lost all my special set-ups that I had.
    I was still having several problems with crashes, I unchecked Acceleration for my video card, now everything works fine but the preview is not accurate, I also inserted a wide screen TV in the system to get another preview but still the rendered product is different it appears as I used to much contrast.

    I render top mpg2 using the DVD Architect set-up, for the audio I use the AC stereo template, the final product is not as loud. I had a template for audio that increased the volume. I found the information on this forum, I lost it when I re-installed Vegas and DVD ARCHITECT. Do you know where I can find it again?

    A suggestion for the members who deal with music audio. When mixing keep in mind the systems people use to watch the video.

    Thank you

    I’m not John but I can answer your DVD audio question 🙂

    Encode set to AC3;
    Click on Custom tab;
    On the first tab, set Dialog Norm at -31 (this sets it at unity gain);
    On the last tab marked Preprocessing, set the Line Mode Profile and RF Mode Profile mode to “none”;
    DC High Pass Filter On (this operates at <=3Hz and takes DC bias out of the mix);
    Bandwidth Low Pass Filter On (this takes aliasing noise at >20kHz out of the encode).
    Save this as a preset.
